California State University, Chico’s Interdisciplinary Center on Aging (ICOA) will host Careers in Aging Week April 9-17. The national event is aimed at bringing awareness to the growing shortage of people trained to meet the needs of older adults.

Several events are planned, beginning with an adapted dance workshop Wednesday, April 9, hosted by recreation professor Michael Leitner and students taking his course on Therapeutic Recreation Activities for Older Adults (RECR 360). At the workshop, students will pair up with older adults to learn and perform simple folk dances, including from a seated position. The free class will be held from 10 a.m. to noon in Selvester’s Café.

The complete release is available on the CSU, Chico News website.
