The progressive bluegrass sounds of the Punch Brothers comes to Chico 11/27!

Chico Performances presents the progressive bluegrass sounds of  the Punch Brothers, combining folk and new pop rhythms in an evening of exceptional musicianship.

Punch Brothers are the New York City-based quintet of mandolinist Chris Thile, guitarist Chris Eldridge, bassist Paul Kowert, banjoist Noam Pikelny and violinist Gabe Witcher.  Their new album Who’s Feeling Young Now?,  is sophisticated, pop-y, kinetic and profound, all at once." The New Yorker calls it "a mystical alchemy of old-time music and contemporary sensibilities."

Punch Brothers mandolinist Chris Thile made headlines last month when he was awarded a MacArthur Genius  grant, making him the youngest recipient ever.

Opening for the Punch Brothers will be The Milk Carton Kids.

Punch Brothers are giving away three free live tracks to celebrate their upcoming fall tour, which includes a stop at Laxson Auditorium on Nov. 27th! Download the tracks at http://punchbrothers.com.
