Prescription Drug Awareness Week Begins on Tuesday, April 22!
Please come out and join CADEC Peer Educators for Prescription Drug Awareness Week Events & Activities
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have declared prescription drug abuse an epidemic. 20,000 people die each year in the U.S. from prescription drug overdoses and 100 people die every day from drug overdoses. Drug overdoses have now surpassed car crashes as a cause of death in the United States and abuse of prescription drugs is the primary cause.
Please join CADEC in helping to raise awareness of this critical public health epidemic by participating in activities planned by CADEC’s team of student Peer Educators for Prescription Drug Awareness Week from Tuesday, April 22 – Saturday, April 26, 2014. The week culminates on Saturday, April 26 which is National Drug Take-Back Day when we encourage you, CSU Chico students, faculty and staff, to drop off your unused prescription and over-the-counter medications at Chico’s official NO QUESTIONS ASKED, DRIVE THROUGH Drop Off Site at Enloe Medical Center – very close to our campus. Over 70% of people who abuse prescription drugs report getting them from a friend or relative – so disposing of your unused drugs is vital as is safe, environmentally friendly disposal. You could also be saving a life.
