Take Back the Night: Breaking the Silence

The Associated Students Gender and Sexuality Equity Center (GSEC) is presenting its biannual event Take Back the Night from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 in the Bell Memorial Union Auditorium.

This event is an outlet for California State University, Chico students, faculty and community members to get involved and protest against rape and other forms of sexual violence against women.

Below is a schedule of the event and workshops:

6 p.m.: Start of event (BMU Auditorium).

6:15 to 7 p.m.: Keynote speaker: Olivia VanDamme, Chico State student (BMU Auditorium).

7:10 to 8:10 p.m.: Women’s Only Survivor Speak-out (TBA).

7:10 to 8:10 p.m.: Gender Inclusive Survivor Speak-out (BMU 210).

7:10 to 8:10 p.m.: Rape Culture Workshop (BMU Auditorium).

8:20 to 8:50 p.m.: Spoken Word & Performances (BMU Auditorium).

9 to 9:30 p.m.: Candle lighting and silent candlelit march (SSC plaza & march downtown)

The candlelit march through downtown Chico sheds light on the issue of sexual assault in our community and asserts a presence as supporters and survivors.
