Green Event Volunteer Opportunity

Have you ever wondered what happens to all the stuff that gets thrown
away when students bolt home for the summer?  Your opportunity to help
a cause that’s reducing this waste is here.  The 13th annual Diversion
Excursion event will take place on the Thursday and Friday of finals
week at all Chico State residence halls.  We’re looking for volunteers
to help at this event which services 2,000 residents every year!

If you’re wondering what you’re getting yourself into, it’s exactly this:

-       A two-hour time commitment on either the Thursday or Friday of
finals week,  between 9:30 and 5:30
-       An opportunity to give back to Chico State and local charities by reducing the waste we
send to the landfill
-       A chance to engage with other students and try something different
Volunteers are responsible for helping first-year students sort their
garbage.  Items that are still good will be donated to local
charities, and other acceptable materials will be recycled.  Last year
we were successful in saving more than 20,000 lbs from being sent to
the landfill!  This is only possibly by the help of the Chico State

Please contact us either by email, phone or by stopping by the office
if you’re interested in volunteering!
