Textile Research
I have been conducting fieldwork with the Wixáritari of Mexico in the states of Jalisco and Nayarit since 1977. For my doctoral research I focused on Wixárika backstrap loom weaving and the role of women in Wixárika culture. During the course of my research I apprenticed to a master weaver and completed five years of training to become, myself, a master weaver.
