Summer Camp at the Valene L. Smith Museum of Anthropology encourages creative activities to learn about other people, places and time periods throughout the world. Using hands-on activities, like drama, science, music, cooking, and art, children will travel the world, learning about people and cultures. For Children Ages 5-11.

Price Per Session:
Monday -Thursdays Half Day (from 8:30 a.m. - 12: 30 p.m.). The price is $100 a week, except Week I which is $50.

Travel the globe to enter epic time periods. Come explore where history and fantasy connect with games, art, and science. See the world through the lens of anthropology!
Week I All about Pirates: July 5 & 6 - $50 (half week)
Ahoy Mates! Join the pirate crew for 2 days of hijinks and mayhem beyond the seven seas. Don’t miss this legendary adventure complete with hidden treasure. Seadogs and scallywags welcome.
Week II Mummies & Mysteries July 10 - 13
Step back in time to the world of ancient Egypt. What was daily life like? Find out how the pyramids were built, send secret messages in hieroglyphics, and discover the lost art of mummy wrapping. Participate in a wax museum of Pharaohs and Deities.
Week III Fantastic Beasts: July 17- 20
J.K. Rowling’s Newt Scamander, completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Meet some beasts in Scamander’s suitcase plus dragons, trolls, nifflers and unicorns. And do you know your patronus? Never fear, this camp can help.
Week IV Adventures in Archaeology: July 24 - 27
Learn the techniques of archaeologists to investigate past cultures and lifeways on every continent. Reconstruct pottery, make arrowheads and cave paintings. Dig into ice & sunken ships too.
