Spring Credential application period.


May 15, 2017
Last day to apply for a bachelor’s degree expected in May 2018.


August 1–31, 2017
Priority Undergraduate Application Filing Period for spring 2018 admission.

August 1–September 15, 2017
Priority Graduate and Credential Programs Application Filing Period for spring 2018 admission.


September 15, 2017
Last day to file an appeal for academic reinstatement for spring 2018.


October 16–December 1, 2017
Registration (Priority). 
Check the Class Schedule on the CSU, Chico Web for registration begin/end dates.

October 21, 2017
Chico Preview Day. 
Interested prospective students and families tour campus and meet academic representatives.


November 15, 2017
Intent to Enroll Deadline and Enrollment Confirmation Deposit due for (spring) Undergraduate applicants.


December 1, 2017
Registration (Priority) Deadline for spring 2018.

December 7, 2017
Registration & Tuition Fee Payment Deadline.
Deadline for students with registration activity (including waitlist only) between October 17-December 7. Failure to pay fees (or have sufficient accepted financial aid) can be subject to disenrollment, late fees, or have services withheld.

January 2, 2018–February 2, 2018
Registration Add/Drop Period. After January 11, students must have paid fees or have sufficient anticipated aid to pay fees to add classes.

January 11
2nd Registration & Tuition Fee Payment Deadline.
Deadline for students with registration (including waitlist only) between January 2-January 11. Failure to pay fees (or have sufficient accepted financial aid) can be subject to disenrollment, late fees, or have services withheld.

January 15
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Campus closed.

January 18
Spring semester begins; all faculty on duty.

January 18
Financial Aid Refunds.
First financial aid refunded by Direct Deposit or mail to students who have met all processing requirements and who have a credit balance after total charges are paid.

January 21
Last day to drop all classes to receive a full refund (less administrative fee).

January 22
Spring Classes Begin.

January 22
Term withdrawal on or after this date (but by April 4) will be eligible for a pro-rata refund of registration fees and non-resident tuition. 


February 2
Last day to add or drop classes without special permission of instructor. You are financially responsible for any fees
associated with classes in which you are enrolled on this date plus any classes in which you subsequently enroll.

February 16
Census Date.
No adding, dropping of classes, or changing of grade option beyond this date without a serious and compelling reason approved by the instructor, department chair, and college dean. Financial aid may be adjusted based on less than full time enrollment at census date.

February 16
Deadline for master’s degree students who are not regularly enrolled to register for adjunct enrollment.

February 16
Final Document Deadline for completion of admitted students’ admission files. Transcripts should be postmarked no later than Friday, February 16, 2018.

February 16
Last day for Open University students to pay fees without late charge.

February 16
Last day to apply for a master’s degree expected in May 2018.

February 26
A late fee for each submission of an Add/Drop Request form begins.


March 18–25
Spring Break. No classes held.

March 30
César Chávez Day. Campus closed.


April 4
Withdrawal after this date will not receive any financial credit for refund.

April 20
Last day to apply without a late charge for a California teaching credential expected in May or August 2018.

April 20
Last day for master’s degree candidates to take oral or comprehensive examination; submit thesis or terminal project; and submit final progress sheet to Graduate Studies.

April 23–May 12
Dropping classes permitted only because of serious illness or accident and with the approval of the college dean.


May 14–18
Final Exam Week.

May 14–31
Spring semester grade submission period.
Submit grades to
Office of the Registrar.

May 17–20
Commencement.

May 28
Memorial Day. Campus closed.

May 31
Spring 2018 semester and academic year ends.
Official Spring semester graduation date.

Summer Term 2018


April 2–August 21
Summer Session (
self-support, RCE) and state summer(limited state-support) term Registration Period.

May 17
Fee Payment Deadline for limited State Summer Term classes. Summer Session (RCE) fees due at registration.


June 4–August 21
Summer Session (RCE) and state summer term courses of varying lengths will be scheduled between these dates.

June 11
Last day to apply for master’s degree expected in August 2018.

Period varies.
The University observes summer hours. Monday–Thursday, 7 am–5:30 pm, closed Fridays.


July 4
Independence Day. Campus closed.


August 6
Last day for master’s degree candidates to take oral or comprehensive examination; submit thesis or terminal project; and submit final progress sheet to Graduate Studies.

August 21
Last day of Summer Session and summer term.

August 24
Summer grades due to the Office of the Registrar.

August 31
Official summer term graduation date.
