Registering with ARC
The registration form allows you to tell us more about your disability and the reasonable accommodations you would like to request. If you are not sure what certain accommodations are, do not worry. You will get a chance to ask when you meet with an Accessibility Resource Center Advisor. After completing the registration form, you will need to print it out, sign it, and submit it to ARC. Follow the Instructions below. You will be given the opportunity to download the Registration form, in either pdf or doc format, as well as view all the guidelines to verification and documentation that will be required for Registration.
Step 1: Apply to the University
All prospective students need to apply to the university through the standard admission procedure found at CSU Mentor before registering with ARC. Application dates and deadlines as well as the online application are also posted on CSU Mentor.
The freshman and transfer admission criteria can be found at the same website.
If you are denied admission to Chico State and believe that you have been unable to complete a subject requirement because of a disability, an appeal can be made to the Chico State Undergraduate Admissions Office. It is recommended that you include with your appeal disability documentation by a qualified professional illustrating how the disability has affected your academic performance. The Admissions Office can be contacted at:

Step 2: Complete ARC Registration Form and Request Your Accommodations
The ARC Registration form is available online and in the Accessibility Resource Center office. The registration form allows you to tell us more about your disability and the reasonable accommodations you'd like to request. If you are not sure what certain accommodations are, don't worry. You'll get a chance to ask when you meet with an ARC Specialist. After completing the registration form, you will need to print it out, sign it, and submit it to ARC at your intake appointment.
Download the ARC Registration Form (pdf).
Step 3: Obtain Your Disability Documentation
ARC welcomes and encourages all students with disabilities at Chico State to register with us. In most cases, we will ask you for disability verification from a qualified professional. Documentation requests are meant to help us understand as much as we can about your disability in advance so that you can focus on being a student. Please note that disability documentation that may have been sufficient to establish eligibility for reasonable accommodations at other institutions, such as high schools or community colleges, may not automatically transfer and may need updating before establishing accommodation eligibility at Chico State. You may not need to submit disability documentation if your disability and accommodation requests can be verified by observation (e.g., wheelchair user, etc.). Please follow the Documentation Guidelines explained below.
These guidelines are for you and your qualified professional, please use these guidelines when obtaining your disability documentation. Generally, the more specific your documentation, the faster we can process your accommodation request and set up a time to meet with you. In the event you are not able to obtain disability documentation that meets all elements stated within the guidelines, you should still submit as much as you have. These guidelines are consistent with the CSU Policy on Provision of Services to Students with Disabilities.
Download the General Disability Documentation Guidelines (pdf), the specific Disability Guidelines pertaining to your disability obtained on the Documentation Guidelines Page, and the Disability Verification Form (docx).
In order for registration to be as quick as possible, the more detailed the information you provide the easier the process will be; you are encouraged to reference all three documents in order to keep ARC as informed as possible about your specific needs.
Step 4: Submit Form and Documentation
You should bring your registration form and disability documentation, if you have it, to your intake appointment with your advisor. ARC prefers not to take custody of medical information until we meet you.
Contact Accessibility Resource Center at (530) 898-5959 to schedule an intake appointment.
Step 5: Meet With an ARC Advisor
You should make an appointment with an ARC Advisor as soon as you can. At this appointment you will discuss your eligibility for receiving ARC's services and learn about the reasonable accommodations available to you while enrolled at Chico State. If you have not submitted your documentation prior to your first appointment, bring it with you to this appointment.
Most of the time, accommodations can be arranged within two weeks of meeting with an ARC Advisor. However, some accommodations take longer to arrange. Please make sure that you review the Accessibility and Accommodations Guidelines for Services to understand the time needed to arrange accommodations.
Step 6: Request Services from ARC
Only after you have registered with ARC can you request specific services and accommodations. Use the Service Request Portal to make requests.
