The Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve (BCCER) hosts a variety of events for the community. These events as well as information about pertinent conferences and news articles are posted in this section.

Nature Hikes/Walks. Each year we host nature walks and/or hikes during April and May. Discover beautiful flowers native to California! Learn about local ecology! Explore the Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve!

See Hikes for dates and descriptions.

Family Safari Day. A joint effort of the BCCER and the Northern California Natural History Museum is the hosting of a summer Family Safari Day program where kids and parents spend a day learning about science and nature. (Schedules will be announced)

Schedule a Field Trip. We host field trips for various groups and educational entities. We try to accomodate K-12 classes and other educational groups for nature hikes and outdoor educational themes. The reserve provides exceptionally good sites for geology, fire ecology, stream ecology as well as examples of road design to prevent stream siltation and vegetation management for wildlife and fire control. To schedule a trip, contact Mark Lynch at bccereducation@csuchico.edu.
