Employers love Chico grads

Chico State is one of our key campuses for hiring.

“The education I got from the entire Chico Experience really prepared me for the rest of my life,” says 2009 grad Drew Lewis. “It wasn’t just the in-class learning, it was the opportunity to get involved on campus—student government and programs like Up ’Til Dawn—all these opportunities to learn about myself and the Chico community.”

Lewis conducted his job search through the Career Center. “They definitely gave me an advantage when it came time to find a job,” he says.

“Career advisor Megan Odom was really helpful. She gave me tons of information about companies and helped me figure out whether they’d be a good fit. I applied for jobs right through the website—with the click of a button!”

Lewis was hired by Pepsi for a sales development job. “It’s the perfect fit for me, exactly what I wanted to do.”

“Employers appreciate the well-rounded education students get at Chico State. When I was interviewing at Pepsi, I heard from hiring managers, ‘We love Chico grads—you guys are great!’ ”

PG&E college relations manager Julie Bonnie agrees. “Chico State is full of smart students who are able to transition their skills more easily into the workplace than, in my opinion, those from the big research institutions. It is one of our key campuses for hiring.”
