Student Chapter of the American Society for Microbiology

Welcome! Hello, and welcome to our homepage. Our mission is to promote understanding and communication between anyone interested in microbiology and related disciplines. This includes microbiology students, as well as any other undergraduate or graduate students interested in this area of science.

Who We Are: The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) is the largest and oldest life sciences organization in the world. We are affiliated with the Northern California Branch of ASM. We enjoy investigating all facets of  microbiology, ranging from guest speakers who are experts in their fields, to taking field trips that demonstrate real-life applications of microbiology.

2006/2007 Executive
Committee
:

Co-President: Scott Simpson"During my first semester at CSU Chico I got involved with the microbiology club. It is a great place to meet faculty and others interested in micro. I am a general microbiology major, but you don't have to be a micro major to get involved with our group. One of my microbiology hobbies is brewing beer. Come to one of our meetings to see what we are all about."

Co-President: Beckie Scroggins
"I am a nursing student. I first got interested in microbiology when I took General Microbiology (Biology 211) class. Dr. Wolfe made everything so interesting and exciting to learn. Microbiology is one of the most different and exciting subjects I have ever learned about."

Vice President: Michael Wong
"Hi. I am currently a senior at CSU Chico majoring in Microbiology with the clinical science option. I used to be a computer science major, but my true interest was in biology. I plan to go into the public health field, but am still unsure what type job I would prefer. What I am sure of now is that I enjoy microbiology, and am glad with my change of majors."

Secretary: Elizabeth (Liz) Anderson
I'm in my 5th year double-majoring in microbiology and chemistry. This will be my third year in the club. I stayed because this last year was a blast! This summer I will be doing research at Sonoma State University"

Treasurer: Ashley
We don't have a bio yet for Ashley. It will be posted in the fall.
