Research Interests:

The Gorman lab uses multiple species of laboratory fish to explore genetic, cellular, and physiological factors that control postural integrity. Current research uses genomic approaches to identify genes that cause or modify heritable scoliosis, cellular mechanisms leading to the pathology, and physiological circumstances that permit the deformity. We seek to identify predisposing factors for human scoliosis, as well as explain why some curves progress to severity while others do not.
