Mission and Goals

Mission Statement

The Graduate Program of the Department of Biological Sciences at CSU, Chico is committed to training students in intellectual breadth across the discipline, in creativity and competence within their chosen specialty, and in achieving the skills required to succeed in the profession at the level of a master of biology.

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)

1. Demonstrate mastery of all basic areas of biology
2. Demonstrate masters level competency in the student's biological specialty
3. Demonstrate ability to read, interpret, and orally communicate technical information
4. Demonstrate ability to develop, perform, and communicate the results of a scientific
   investigation (a thesis)
