Teaching Associate Positions
Teaching Associate Positions in General Biology ( BIOL 101), Human Anatomy ( BIOL 103), Human Physiology( BIOL 104), Allied Health Microbiology (BIOL 211) and Field Biology( BIOL 342)
The Position
Teaching Associate positions for one to four labs.
(13-40% appointment) in the Department of Biological Sciences, CSU Chico, for Spring 2007
Minimum Qualifications
Acceptance into a M.S. program at CSU, Chico. Students must be enrolled in courses toward the completion of a graduate degree during the appointment period. Demonstrated knowledge of the subject matter of the discipline addressed by the class. Ability to relate well to others within the academic environment and ability to instruct and evaluate students. Exceptions to the minimum eligibility qualifications may be granted at the sole discretion of the university.
Responsibilities
Provide laboratory instruction to lower-division level classes, make assignments to students, prepare course materials, administer examinations, assess student performance, tutor students and determine course grades.
Closing Date
Review will begin December 14, 2006. Applications completed after that date may be considered.

If you want to apply for a Teaching Associate position for SPRING 2007 and are now a TA you must submit:
- A brief letter of intent indicating your desire to continue as a TA. Please indicate course preference(s) and the number of labs you are willing to teach, and include a brief statement of your qualifications to teach labs in specific classes
- A curriculum vitae (if one is on file, a new one is unnecessary unless you wish to update it).
- A progress report from your major professor (Dr. Larry Hanne has progress report forms for Biological Sciences. Nutrition Sciences graduate students should contact Dr. Kathryn Silliman.) This report is required and is strongly considered in ranking. Please submit your report with your letter of intent.
If you want to apply for a Teaching Associate position for SPRING 2007 and not now a TA you must:
- Submit a letter indicating your desire to hold a TA.
Please indicate course preference(s) and the number of labs you are willing to teach, and include a brief statement of your qualifications to teach labs in specific classes. - Submit a curriculum vitae.
- Three letters of recommendation from faculty or qualified individuals.
- Please include your CSU Chico ID number on your letter or vita.
For all applicants, we must have an address and phone number where you can be reached from January 2 to January 19, 2007. Failure to provide a reliable address and phone number may result in forfeiture of your opportunity for employment. We must complete hiring during that time.
