Current position:

  • Assistant Professor of Sociology at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo

Selected accomplishments since graduation:

  • Masters of Sociology, Bowling Green State University

2017 Dr. Shaw worked with two seniors on an art exhibit at Cal Poly's Kennedy Library called “Between the Bars,” which featured approximately 30 incarcerated artists from the California Men’s Colony. The exhibit created a space for marginalized voices in hopes to challenge the narratives about who “prisoners” are.

Unique’s assessment of her CSU, Chico education:

“I wouldn’t be where I am today without the mentorship I received while in the CJ program at Chico State. Michael Coyle, in particular, encouraged me to pursue an advanced degree and supported me along the way. I am forever grateful."
