The department intends to adopt two exams developed by the Council For Economic Education: the Test of Understanding In College Economics Microeconomics; and the Test of Understanding In College Economics Macroeconomics to assess SLO 1 and SLO 2, respectively. The tests were first developed forty years ago, and have been updated regularly since then. They have an extensive history of use by teachers and researchers in the economics profession. The exam has two main objectives: (1) to offer a reliable and valid assessment instrument; and (2) to provide data for a large, national sample of students, allowing instructors to compare performance in their classes on both pretests and posttests to the performance of the national sample of students and instructors.
