Child Development

Cindy RatekinGreetings and welcome to the Child Development Department!  We are pleased that you are interested in the Child Development major.

Child Development students complete more than 250 hours of supervised fieldwork with children and their families.  We have a partnership with the Associated Students Child Development Laboratory (ASCDL), a Title V and state licensed full day early childhood program for more than 80 families.  This provides students many opportunities to learn about and teach infants, toodlers, and preschoolers.  The Child Development Student Association (CDSA) performs many service activities for the campus and community.

Our graduates work in various areas: early childhood education, elementary and special education, social work, nonprofit agencies, and private businesses. Many of our students continue to earn their master’s degrees in developmental studies, family relations, psychology, or education.

We look forward to having you as one of our majors.
