Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students (BASICS) is a service for students in which they explore their alcohol use.  It is evidence-based and designed to assist students in examining their own substance use behaviors in a non-judgmental and non-confrontational environment.  The goal of BASICS is to help students reduce risky behaviors and harmful effects from drinking.  BASICS provides students with personalized feedback about their own alcohol use and compares the students’ alcohol use to other college students.  BASICS gives students an opportunity to explore their level of risk, identify possible changes, and helps them to reduce their risk in developing future problems.  BASICS can serve as a "check-up" on students drinking.

BASICS is typically set by referral, however if you have a concern about your own substance use behavior you may set up an appointment by calling CADEC at (530)898-6450 or stop by the office. Appointments are subject to availability.

Each appointment is held by our Wellness Outreach Coordinator, Sadie LaBriere, MSW.
