I, Janeil Harris, was born in Chicago, Illinois, I was raised in Inglewood California and I identify myself as a Belizean. I am a second year social work major who is pursuing for my MSW (Masters in Social Work.  I aspire to be a life coach/guidance counselor for unstable teens who struggle with substance abuse disorder, or teens that just need someone to talk to or dealing with emotional distress.

I am fighting for the empowerment for students so no one will feel like their education or voices were wasted, “MY VOICE, MY POWER, THEIR VOICE, THEIR POWER’’.

My passion is to be a mentor to teens so they can learn from my experience or just to be a support system for them, so they know they have someone on their side.

My mission for myself is to motivate teens to change their mindset and help them walk their true path.

CADEC helps me achieve this mission because it gives me a voice so I can reach out to someone who needs our help.

CADEC is like a shovel that helps me dig myself out of tough situations. I like to get involved in activities like being Vice President of ENVY hip hop dance team, participating in REACH, interning at Pipeline through College, and just being an active leader on my campus.

My favorite quote is,’ “Success is a journey, not a destination'' . If you see me on campus feel free to say hi and ask any questions.
