About the Program

It is our belief that by recognizing and rewarding REAL teachers, quality physical education will in turn be recognized for its importance in combating the obesity epidemic.

The CASPER Foundation announces an innovative effort to get teachers to become Part of The Solution through its recognition program for REAL physical education teachers.

We hope that more administrators, parents and REAL teachers will put pressure on unprofessional teachers and start holding them accountable for what they are supposed to do: TEACH! Hopefully our campaign will reduce the number of physical education programs that are wasting students’ time, and increase those that help students become active for the rest of their lives.

Are you a REAL teacher?

If you want to be recognized by CASPER as a REAL physical education teacher, please go to our MEET SOME REAL TEACHERS recognition page and enter your personal information. In addition, please mail the following to Casper Teacher Recognition Program, Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science, California State University, Chico, Chico, CA 95929-0330:

• A statement that you have taken The REAL Teachers’ Pledge in front of, and signed by, at least two witnesses.
• When you send us your signed statement please include your school’s name and address as well as the name of your principal. The CASPER organization will then send a letter to your principal in recognition of your pledge to being a REAL teacher.
• Send us a picture of yourself so we can recognize you on our CASPER site in our MEET SOME REAL TEACHERS section. You may send the picture via e-mail or with you statement.
