The Mission of the College
The College of Communication and Education is dedicated to excellence
in the pursuit of knowledge. Students are challenged to achieve
scholastic success, commit to acquiring multicultural understandings,
and use information and technology to help build the future.
Scholarship and service are the goals of graduate and undergraduate
programs in the Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science
leading to careers in teaching; sports medicine; and exercise, therapy,
and fitness. Certification is available in adapted physical education
and exercise physiology.
The Department of Recreation and Parks Management offers graduate
and undergraduate degrees that prepare students for management careers
in recreation, parks, tourism, hotels and resorts, and leisure services.
The School of Communication offers undergraduate programs in public
relations and news-editorial in the Department of Journalism. The
Department of Communication Design has undergraduate programs in
information and communication systems, instructional technology,
media arts, graphic design, and visual communication. The Department
of Communication Arts and Sciences has undergraduate programs in
organizational communication, human communication, and communication
sciences and disorders. Graduate programs are available in communication
sciences and disorders, communication studies, and instructional
technology.
The School of Education departments offer masters degree options
as well as professional education programs leading to basic teaching,
specialist, and school service credentials. Included are multiple
and single subject, special education, reading/language arts, and
educational administration credentials and Bilingual/Cross-cultural,
Language, and Academic Development (BCLAD) emphases.
