This Catalog
We hope that you will find The 2003-2005 University Catalog
to be the last word a comprehensive, up-to-date
source of information on our university. It is divided into nine
major sections:
The Introductory Material
provides the Table of Contents, Accreditation
Information, a notice about Changes
in Rules and Policies, the Academic
Calendars, and a Welcome from the President.
University Governance
and Administration, Distinguished Faculty, and Curriculum
begins with a description of the California State University system
of public higher education of which our university is a part, and
then outlines the universitys administrative organization.
Our distinguished faculty are highlighted here as well. The University
Curriculum section discusses the philosophical goals of the universitys
academic mission and the organization of the university into colleges,
schools, departments, and programs. The section concludes with a
description of each college.
Activities, Programs, and Services
describes the non-classroom support programs and services provided
by the university. See especially the Guide
to Student Services a chart prepared to assist you to
get the help or services you want while at CSU, Chico.
The Community
describes how to get to and around Chico, with local maps of
help to you, community relations and policies, community service
and service learning opportunities, and campus safety. See especially
the Guide to Community Services, a chart which lists
a variety of community features and services of importance to you.
Admissions, Orientation,
Fees, and Financial Assistance provides necessary basic
information on undergraduate and graduate admissions, orientation,
academic advising, fees and expenses, financial aid, scholarships,
and student employment.
Degree Offerings, Requirements, and
Academic Regulations provides an overview of academic program
offerings, and describes the universitys requirements for
the bachelors degree, General Education, and graduate programs,
as well as the policies and regulations regarding course credit,
course selection, and grading.
The Academic Program fully
describes, in alphabetical order, all academic programs and course
offerings of the university. Use this section to locate any specific
academic major, option, pattern, minor, credential, or certificate
program which interests you and a description of the courses required.
It is here that complete details regarding program course requirements,
the faculty, and course descriptions are found. College deans, department
chairs, program directors, advisers, or any faculty member listed
within the various program descriptions will be pleased to answer
any further questions you may have.
The Concluding Material
includes California State University System information and
policies, important notices, a comprehensive Faculty Index, and
a Subject Index.
