The CCHE will hold its seventh annual conference October 19-20, 2012, in the Student Union on the campus of San Jose State University. The conference will feature Carol McKibben of Stanford University, who will speak on "United States Immigration Policy in the Twentieth Century," and Jonathan Roth of San Jose State University, who will discuss "Jews and Christians in the Roman Army." The rest of the program offers a full slate of stimulating lectures by university scholars, classroom-tested lessons by teachers, and presentations by participants in -- and directors of -- Teaching American History grants from throughout the state. Click here to download the complete 2012 CCHE conference program. Be sure to print the program and bring it to the conference.
The conference registration fee is $85 for CCHE/NCHE members, $135 for non-members, and $30 for students. Registration fees for non-members and students include one-year memberships in both the CCHE and its national affiliate, the National Council for History Education. Although advance registration has now closed, you can still register at the conference.
There is no "official" conference hotel. Instead, the CCHE has negotiated reduced rates at two area hotels so you can make your own selection and save money in the process.
