The Communication Design Department offers an undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Design with an option in Media Arts.
If you're interested in radio, TV, broadcasting, cable, satellites and working in the media of the future, consider Media Arts. You can learn about radio and TV news as an announcer and behind the scenes·and how to manage the production of TV shows, documentaries and music videos. Script writing, useful in education, advertising and entertainment, will be part of your training. You'll learn about photography plus video and audio editing.
Students with an option in Media Arts gain a solid background in communication theory and the role of the media. You can begin your career in radio and TV news, advertising sales, media performance, as well as media writing and production. Graduates sometimes work for independent production companies and corporate media departments. A senior portfolio class helps you get ready to begin your search.
Through a strong internship program, you can gain valuable skills. In the past five years, interns have worked for MTV, and as script writers for a production company. Others worked in local, Bay Area, and Sacramento radio and TV stations.
