- CSU, Chico President's Bus Tour
September 20 – 22, 2007
The Center for Economic Development in conjunction with the CSU, Chico President's office and Public Affairs office coordinated a three-day event that included a two-day bus tour of selected areas of the North State. The CED was an integral part of the planning and coordination of the actual trip as well as lining up speakers and communities members for the university to meet with. President Paul Zingg, and a group of travelers made up of faculty who are directing research programs in the region, faculty who are experts on some aspect of the North State, brand new-faculty, junior faculty, a couple of deans, some members of the University Advisory Board, and members of the Cabinet participated in a three-day event learning and listening about the issues, challenges, and opportunities in Northern California. The hope was to offer a trip that would be informative, educational and fun. Participants saw some of the physical wonders of the North State, heard from people who addressed some of the issues we face in the North State, and met residents from different cities and sectors. The overall purpose of this is to increase the understanding of our role as "The University of the North State." Please see the attached itinerary for specific locations, times, and communities that were visited over the three-day trip.
