Open for Business

Entrepreneurs are responsible for much of the current economic growth in the United States. They constitute over 97 percent of all business owners nationwide and 98 percent of business owners in California. They discover and develop innovative products and services to meet the demands of other businesses and consumers. Therefore, to grow a thriving economy, fostering entrepreneurship must be a cornerstone of California’s economic policy. In 2005, the Northeastern California Small Business Development Center (NECSBDC) developed an innovative video magazine pilot program to spotlight successful entrepreneurs who have overcome obstacles and challenges in the growth of their small businesses. Potential entrepreneurs will learn about successful business pioneers before them, and be inspired to purse their own dreams of growing a small business. The goal of the project is to reach a statewide public television audience that includes more than 17 million weekly viewers.
