CELT Learning Catalyst Fellows
Mission Statement: CELT is dedicated to the enhancement of student learning. The CELT Learning Catalyst Fellows are instructional faculty and instructional staff who make significant contributions to student learning.
CELT will recognize one Learning Catalyst Fellow from each of the seven Academic Colleges each year. Fellows will share their strategies and techniques with others in their College and at the annual CELT Conference.
A. Process:
1. Open nominations (by self, colleague, student, student organization, Chair, Dean, staff, etc.) will be solicited at the beginning of the Fall semester with a deadline of Monday, September 9th, 2013.
Announcements of awardees/fellows will be made by Wednesday, September 18.
2. Nomination packet includes:
-Documentation of student perceptions of excellence
-Recommendation from Chair or Dean
-Statement of teaching philosophy
-Nominee's statement of willingness to present at CELT Conference as well as carry practices to College--including a plan of how to accomplish this
-Any other evidence of excellence in teaching and facilitating learning
3. Recipients will be honored at a CELT Conference breakfast session, where each awardees is recognized and talks for 5-7 minutes, sharing a highly effective strategy or technique s/he employs to enhance student learning
4. Recipients carry practices to College according to their own plan during the academic year
5. Recipients each receive $500 in Professional Development Funds
B. Criteria:
1. Perceived by students as a catalyst of learning
2. Employs teaching practices/techniques that enhance student learning
3. Full nomination packet submitted by deadline
