Cesar Chavez Day of Service Gardening Event
March 31, 10:00 a.m. at the Solidarity Garden, and 1:00 p.m. at the South Community Center.
Help prepare the garden for spring harvest, followed by a meal and presentation on the importance of farm workers' rights. Participants will cultivate community bonds, support sustainable agriculture, and learn about the legacy of Cesar Chavez, championing social justice for farm workers. Volunteers will prep the RedMeals Garden (1543 Boucher St) from 10 am to 12 pm. From 1 pm to 3 pm, they'll enjoy a meal and a presentation on Cesar Chavez's work and farm workers' rights at the South Chico Community Assistance Center (1805 Park Ave). The event, which provides students the opportunity to give back to the local Chico community through community service, will feature 10+ volunteer sites including The Boys and Girls Club, Esplanade House, Chico Area Parks and Recreation District, and Habitat for Humanity in Paradise.
