Safe Zone Ally Training—Part One

Become Safe Zone certified by learning how to effectively support and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community.

Tuesday, October 10

Inclusive Pedagogy Workshop for Chico State Faculty and Staff
Selveste’rs Café -by-the-Creek, 11 a.m.–noon.

In celebration of the incredible gender and sexuality diversity of our students, come get a few tips on inclusive pedagogy from the pros at Multicultural & Gender Studies. You can practice inclusive pedagogy wherever you meet our students, be that in the classroom or in one of the many units across campus.
Susan Frawley, Molly Heck, and Sara E. Cooper will share some of their best concrete strategies for showing our students that the LGBTQ+ population is seen and appreciated here.

Queer Week Tie-Dying and Resource Tabling Fair
Sutter Courtyard*, 6 p.m.

Students, faculty, and staff can connect and find community with one another at this resource tabling fair located in the heart of CSU, Chico's residence halls. Grab a friend and come join us for free tie-dying and fun! More details to be announced.

Conversations on Diversity & Inclusion: Matthew Boger
Bell Memorial Union, Room 203*, noon

The Conversations on Diversity and Inclusion series (CODI) focuses on the complexities of group and individual identities and how they influence one another. During this conversation, Matthew Boger will reflect on his story of living on the streets and surviving a violent hate crime as a young adult--including his experience reconnecting with and forgiving his assailant after meeting unexpectedly so many decades later.

Wear Your Rainbow Colors for National Coming Out Day

Coming out can be a scary, vulnerable, and sometimes never-ending process for members of the LGBTQ+ community. Take a minute to show pride for yourself or support for your friends and family by wearing rainbow and joining us for a picture on CSU, Chico's Trinity Commons lawn!

Queer Week’s Drag Show
Bell Memorial Union Auditorium, $5 for Students; $10 for General
Doors open at 7 p.m., Show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Join us in celebrating the LGBTQ+ community with this drag extravaganza! Queens, kings, and everyone in between will excite and entertain using gender as the medium. After bringing in over 600 attendees last year, organizers are excited to bring back this benefit to support local and regional LGBTQ+ organizations. Come one, come all!
