Living Parallel Lives
Living Parallel Lives
When the lives of KARI KYLER and KYLE DANISKA finally intersected on a Sacramento sidewalk in the summer of 2012, the two had no idea that for nearly seven years they had been living in parallel.
Both Kari (BS, Biological Sciences, ’08) and Kyle (BS, Business Administration, ’08) attended Chico State from 2005 to 2008. Kari lived on 9th Street, and Kyle lived just a few blocks away. They worked eerily similar jobs—she at Pep Boys, and he at Riebes Auto Parts. But still, their paths never crossed.
After graduating, they both took jobs in Sacramento: Kari for the State Water Resources Control Board, and Kyle at the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. One afternoon, Kari stopped in a lighting shop downtown to browse for chandeliers for her parents’ cabin. It was outside this store that she met Kyle. Within five days, they knew enough to want to spend the rest of their lives together. The two were married on Dec. 12, 2012, in Sacramento.
