Alumni Association News

Jimmy Reed

Greetings, fellow Wildcats!

It is with great pleasure that I now serve as president of
our Alumni Association. This is a very exciting time to be an alumnus of Chico State. We have accomplished so much since the Alumni Association was founded 124 years ago. However, what I find most exciting is what we have been able to accomplish over the last few years and the direction we are now heading.

Last year, we transitioned to a non-dues, all-inclusive organization. This has allowed us to increase support for our chapters and networks throughout California, to develop new programming for students as they prepare to graduate, and to continue engaging alumni in the years immediately following their graduation. These changes have given us the ability to interact with more alumni than ever before and develop stronger connections to Chico State.

The Alumni Association Board of Directors is actively working to improve these programs, as well as developing new and exciting ways to connect with alumni.

At our recent board retreat, we focused on a multitude of ideas and goals for implementation in the coming years. Some of these include increasing alumni participation in campus events, continuing to expand and support the Young Alumni Network, promoting successes and milestones that our alumni achieve, connecting with alumni where they work, and the development of more networks in California and elsewhere in the United States.

Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not mention Chico State President Paul J. Zingg’s retirement at the end of this academic year. President Zingg has been an advocate for the Alumni Association, and we would not have been able to transition to our new non-dues, all-inclusive format without his support. We wish President Zingg the best in his retirement and future endeavors.

The CSU Board of Trustees recently appointed Gayle Hutchinson as the new president of Chico State, and we look forward to working closely with her to continue to enrich the Chico Experience by supporting alumni, students, and
the University.
