Ellie Clifford Ertle
Director, Office of Civic Engagement
Ellie Clifford Ertle is the Director of Civic Engagement at CSU, Chico, teaches in the Department of Political Science, and serves as faculty coordinator of the Town Hall Meeting Program. She is invested in the concept of civic and community engagement as a core component of the University's mission and is excited to work with faculty and staff to develop civic opportunities across campus.
Patti Horsley, MPH
Faculty Fellow, Office of Civic Engagement
Patti is passionate about creating opportunities for people to grow and thrive. With her Master's in Public Health, Patti brings over 17 years of experience to the Office of Civic Engagement where she helps facilitate and promote civic engagement opportunities for Chico State students. Patti is also Adjunct Faculty in the Health and Community Services Department, where her classes engage health education students in civic engagement opportunities throughout Butte county.
Annelise Wipfli joined the OCE team as the Student Assistant in fall 2014. She is currently a sophomore, majoring in Agricultural Business with a minor in Journalism and Public Relations. Along with working in the Office of Civic Engagement, Annelise has gained extensive leadership skills by facilitating leadership conferences for California FFA. Her past experiences include a leadership position for a SORES program, as well as an internship for the Public Relations Firm, The Dolphin group. She is an active and involved community member and College of Ag student, participating in community service on her free time.
Catie is a second year student majoring in Event management at CSU, Chico. This is her first year working for the Office of Civic Engagement as a Student Assistant, mainly focusing on event planning and implementation. She also teams up with other members of OCE to increase voter registration and community involvement among the students on campus. Catie is very passionate about encouraging students to be a part of the community in as many ways as possible. She actively participates in community service, and has previously volunteered for an organization called Girls on the Run to plan community events. She is also a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority, holding the position of Campus Involvement Chair. After she graduates, she hopes to become a corporate event planner and travel the world.
Jess is a fourth year student earning bachelor degrees in Political Science and Multicultural and Gender Studies with a concentration in Women's Studies. She is invested in building bridges between campus and the Chico community, and improving all students' experiences through civic opportunities. In her spare time, Jess enjoys hiking in Upper Bidwell Park, taking Zumba classes, crafting jewelry, and visiting local coffee shops.
Stephanie is a senior in the political science program and is very excited to graduate and put her educational skills to work. She's an intern with the OCE, focusing on voter registration and turnout in the campus community. She hopes to help establish a connection between students and the city of Chico, while also showing the importance and effect of youth voting. In her free time, she enjoys acting, dancing, reading Stephen King, and planning her next trip to Disneyland.
Stephen joined the OCE in Fall 2014 to work on the office’s public relations. Stephen is a graduate student working toward his master’s degree in communication studies where he is focusing on environmental communication and advocacy. As an undergraduate he was the leader of a student campaign to promote responsible drinking, and is currently working on a nonprofit communication strategy to create healthier forests and resilient communities through the effective use of prescribed wildland fire. In his off time, Stephen rides motorcycles, sews custom packs and spends quality time with his dog, Bonzai.
