Data Projector

  1. Open the door of the media cabinet.
    • turn on the main power switchon the top right.
  2. Using projector remote control from the small cabinet in the top of the console:
    • turn on the projector
    • press Data 1

      (If you do not see the video image projected, press Video 1 and then press Data 1)

      The best lighting for computer use is with the front room lights off and the back lights on. Reverse the above steps when finished.

Visual Presenter (Elmo)

  1. Open the arms and camera head.
  2. Use the round gray "unlock" button to release the camera head.
  3. Turn on the power switch on the left side of the base.
  4. Turn on the lamp switch located on the lower left side.
  5. Choose desired the lamp.
    • on the base for transparency
    • on the arm for paper or 3D objects
  6. Open the door of the media cabinet.
    • turn on the main power switch on the top right
    • press the power switch on the JVC control panel
    • press the "Presenter" button
  7. Using projector remote control from the small cabinet in the top of the console.
    • turn on the projector
    • press Video 1

      (if you don't see the video image projected, press Data 1, then press Video 1)

      Reverse the above steps to turn everything off.

Dimable Lights

  1. A round light knob can be found on the wall, usually next to the door:
    • Pushing the knob in will turn the lights on.
    • Rotating the knob one way or the other will dim or brighten the lights.
    • Pushing the knob in again will turn the lights off.

Projection Screen

  1. Screen control buttons can be in one of several places:
    • on the console
    • on the wall
  2. Pressing the top of the button will make the screen go up.
  3. Pressing the bottom the the button will make the screen go down.

Video Cassette Player (VCR)

  1. Open the door of the media cabinet - turn on the main power switch on the top right - press the power switch on the JVC control panel - press the "VCR" button
  2. Using projector remote control from the small cabinet in the top of the console. - turn on the player
    • press Video 1
    • put videocassette in player
    • press play
  3. If you don't see an image
  4. press Data 1
    • then press Video 1.
    • Reverse the above steps to turn everything off.

Computer and VCR

These instructions are also mounted in all the classrooms.

  1. Activate the AMX by touching the screen. The word "Password" will appear.
  2. Touch the word "Password" to enter the AMX password.
    • The AMX password can be found inside the cabinet or Media Control Box.
  3. On the "Timed Shutdown" screen: enter the length of time for your class. When the selected time elapes, the power to all equipment except the computer will be automatically shutdown.
  4. Unlock and open the cabinet doors
  5. From the AMX touch screen main menu
    • Press "PROJECTOR," Power On
    • Press "VIDEO SOURCE"
  6. Choose source
    • VCR (see directions below)
    • Computer (see directions below)
  7. Choose Video Source on JVC for appropriate medium
  8. Lower screen:
    • button on console or wall
  9. When finished
    • Press "SYSTEM SHUTDOWN" from the AMX touch screen. All equipment will turn off
  10. Lock cabinet doors

To use Computer:

  1. Follow instructions under "To Start", step 5b, you have two options;
  2. Project to Class
    • Press "COMPUTER" on the AMX touch screen
    • Turn on Computer
    • Let Boot up all the way (wait this may take some time)
  3. Not project to Class:
    • Turn Computer on via Computer Monitor
    • Computer needs to be turned off separately

To use VCR:

  1. Follow instructions under "To Start", step 5a, press "POWER" on VCR
  2. Insert video tape
    • If tape starts immediately, press "STOP" on the AMX touch screen
  3. Press "PLAY" either on AMX touch screen or JVC Video Selector
  4. Adjust volume from the AMX touch screen, Main Menu
