Graduate Degree: Advising Sheet

The number of units required for the M.A. degree is from 52 – 60. This includes a minimum of 35 units of letter grade coursework plus comprehensive examinations/ thesis/project, as well as 12–24 units of CR/NC practica (375+ hours).

First Fall Semester

  • CMSD 610: Research Methods in CMSD (3)
  • CMSD 620: Neuroanatomy of Speech, Swallowing, and Language (3)
  • CMSD 631: Disorders of Fluency (3)
  • CMSD 632: Seminar in CMSD (2) – taken fall and spring
  • CMSD 680: Audiology Practicum (1) – taken 1st fall or spring OR
  • CMSD 684: Clinical Practicum (2) – 4 units if 680/682 is not taken

First Spring Semester

  • CMSD 632: Seminar in CMSD (2) – taken fall and spring
  • CMSD 636: Neuropathologies of Language and Cognition (3)
  • CMSD 640: Assessment and Management of Auditory Disorders (3)
  • CMSD 642: Neuropathologies of Swallowing and Speech (3)
  • CMSD 645: Augmentative and Alternative Communication (3)
  • CMSD 680: Audiology Practicum (1) – taken 1st fall or spring OR
  • CMSD 682: Speech Diagnostic Practicum (1) – taken once any semester
  • CMSD 684: Clinical Practicum (2) – 4 units if 680/682 is not taken
