Hearst/CSU Trustee’s Award to Communication Sciences and Disorders Student

Marycarmen Rosales became the 11th CSU, Chico student to receive the prestigious 2008 William R. Hearst/CSU Trustee’s Award for Outstanding Achievement. The Trustee’s Award honors outstanding academic performance, community service, and accomplishments in the face of personal hardships and challenges. Rosales is a master’s student in communication sciences and disorders. She emigrated from Mexico at age seven speaking no English and with parents with only elementary education. With her parent’s encouragement and mentoring from a speech pathologist in Napa she has become an advocate for non-native speakers and children.
