June 16-20 Force in Motion

Use Cambridge Physics Outlet (CPO) and NASA Rocketry
materials to address physical science standards, simple machines and study alternative energy sources. Materials will be available to check out for classroom use during the academic year. Standards for grades 3-12. Continuing Ed credit available. Combine with Science and Literacy institute below for Masters in Science Teaching program credit available.

June 23-27 Science and Literacy

Work with the Hands on Laboratory materials to develop
student’s reading, writing, and speaking skills using science
notebooks, GLAD, and English Language Development strategies. Standards for grades 4-8. Continuing Ed credit
available.

July 21-25
July 28-31 Science of Humans

First in a series of institutes focusing on:
Humans: Past, Present, and Future.
Investigate anatomy and physiology, biomechanics and
neurophysiology, brain structure and function, hormones
and drugs, health and fitness, genetic ancestry in evolution
and genetic future of gene therapy. Standards for grades 5-12.
Masters in Science Teaching program credit available.

August 4-8 The "easy" Project

Early Access to Science for Youngsters (EASY Project)
Focus on development of observation skills, inquiry approaches,
English language development, and science standards for grades
K-3. In partnership with the Northern California Natural History Museum, outdoor education, environmental literacy, and an introduction to Seeds of Science, Roots of Reading from the Lawrence Hall of Science will be included in this one week institute. Continuing Education credit available.
