Curriculum Vita

Dr. Cindy Wolff began her university education at CSU, Chico as a biology major and completed her BS in Dietetics at UC Davis in 1975. She returned to CSUC to complete an advanced degree in Public Administration in 1982. Following international work, she completed her Ph.D. in Nutritional Science at Colorado State University in 1987 and joined the Nutrition and Food Sciences Department at CSU, Chico that same year. Cindy Wolff has served as the Executive Director of the CSUC Center for Nutrition and Activity Promotion since 2006 and its foundational programs, OPT for Healthy Living and the Sierra Cascade Nutrition and Activity Consortium, since their inception in 2001.

The Center has had an impressive record of success. Wolff and her students were selected by the American Association of Colleges and Universities and the Center for Disease Control for presentation of OPT for Healthy Living on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC in 2004 as a model service learning program. The Center for Nutrition and Activity Promotion was selected as an Honorable Mention Awardee for the 2007 Campus-Community Partnerships in Health Award sponsored by this international organization. In 2009, the Center was selected as the recipient of the Network for a Healthy California’s Korten Award for outstanding child nutrition services. In adition, the Center was invited to present its exemplary model of integrating the university classroom with experiential education at the 2012 Annual Meeting of the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior in Washington, DC.

Professional Accomplishments and Awards

Cindy Wolff is a professor in the CSU, Chico Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences as well as the Executive Director of the Center for Nutrition and Activity Promotion. She has conducted countless program evaluations and research studies over the past 30 years. Her record of exemplary work is evidenced by satisfactory ratings (the highest possible) on all evaluation reports to program funders. Dr. Wolff has published more than 30 articles in professional journals documenting successful program efforts. Additionally, she regularly presents program results and provides evaluation trainings at state, national, and international conferences. Recently, Wolff presented a TED talk on the application of behavioral economics to enhance healthy eating and activity patterns.

In 2012, Dr. Wolff received the Regas Award for Service to Students from the CSU Chico College of Natural Sciences. She has received numerous other awards including the CSUC Outstanding Project Directors Award, the CSU Chico Professional Achievement Honors Award, the California Dietetic Association's Outstanding Dietetic Educator Award, and the American Dietetic Association's New Researcher Award.
