CNAP Honored by Community-Campus Partnerships for Health

The Center for Nutrition and Activity Promotion (CNAP) at California State University, Chico has been selected for honorable mention by Community-Campus Partnerships for Health (CCPH). The 2007 CCPY award winner and the three partnerships recognized as honorable mentions, including CNAP, were announced during the CCPH 10th anniversary conference "Mobilizing Partnerships for Social Change," April 14 in Toronto.

Art good enough to eat

The fruits and vegetables appearing outside Citrus School look good enough to eat, but their message is to eat what's good for you.

A dull wall outside the school's library is being turned into a colorful mural illustrating healthy lifestyles — shopping at a farmers market, eating and growing fruits and vegetables, and enjoying good foods together.

The mural reflects the school's efforts to teach nutrition and encourage healthy lifestyles project was partly funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, through the Sierra Cascade Nutrition and Activity Consortium (SCNAC), which partners with many local schools to battle childhood obesity.

McManus students master challenge

McManus School Sixth-Graders McManus School students took the challenge and came out winners.

The school is in first place in its region in a fitness competition, because every one of its 636 students took up the challenge to be physically active for one month and succeeded.

The Governor's Challenge, promoted by the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, asked students to be active at least 30 minutes a day, three days a week, for four weeks.
