Student Internships and Employment

Internship Options:

The CNAP Internship program offers two internship options. See below for a description of each option and complete application instructions.

Internship Option 1: Nutrition Education Program Administration & Research

Provides students with opportunities related to office and administrative responsibilities. For more information about this internship, please click here.

Employment Options:

The CNAP Employment program offers two employment options. See below for a description of each option and complete application instructions.

Paid Student Employment:

After completing a CNAP internship, students are welcome to apply for a paid student position. For more information about student employment, please click here.

Paid Student Employment Post-Graduation:

CNAP offers employment options to CNAP employees after they have graduated. For more information about post-graduation student employment, please click here.

Eligibility Requirements to Apply:

New Internship: 

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate courses at CSU, Chico and be in good academic standing. Students on academic probation are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must have completed a minimum of one year of undergraduate study by the start of the internship.

Continued Internship: 

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate courses at CSU, Chico and be in good academic standing. Students on academic probation are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicant must have already completed or be in the process of completing a new internship with CNAP.

Paid Student Employment:

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate courses at CSU, Chico and be in good academic standing. Students on academic probation are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must have successfully completed the CNAP orientation training and required internship hours. CNAP requires students to do a minimum of: 1) 135 internship hours (3 units) in one semester or 2) 90 internship hours each semester for two semesters (totaling 4 units). In rare cases, we may be able to pay an applicant prior to the completion of required internship hours on a special need/ special skill basis.
  • Applicants must provide a minimum availability of 10 hours per week (Mon - Fri, 8am - 5pm).

Paid Student Employment Post-Graduation:

  • Applicants must be a current CNAP employee.
  • Applicants must notify their direct supervisor prior to their graduation (November 1st for fall graduation or April 1st for spring graduation) and indicate the desire to continue employment.
  • Applicants must provide a minimum availability of 10 hours per week (Mon - Fri, 8am - 5pm).

Application Instructions

This form is a Microsoft Word fill-in form. Please complete the form electronically. You can then print and deliver it to the CNAP office inbox (25 Main St, Ste 101, see map here) or you can submit it by e-mail to the CNAP Internship Coordinator (contact information below). Please note that we do require a resume to accompany any new internship application form. Incomplete applications will be returned to the applicant. Applicants will not be considered until a complete application and resume (if required) are submitted. If your completed application is submitted after the deadline, your application may not be considered until the next semester.

You will receive a confirmation e-mail within 3 business days of application submission. If you do not receive a confirmation, contact the CNAP Internship Coordinator (contact information below) immediately.

Depending on the number of qualified applicants and the number of positions available, you may be placed on a waiting list. If internships/positions become available, we will contact applicants on the waiting list first.

CNAP Staff Meet and Greet

New intern applicants are required to attend the CNAP Staff Meet and Greet. Applicants will have the opportunity to meet all supervisors and hear about the different programs for which we are accepting interns. Come prepared to share a little about yourself and the experiences you hope to gain through an internship with the Center.

For Future Employment

CNAP requires students to do a minimum of: 1) 135 internship hours (3 units) in one semester or 2) 90 internship hours each semester for two consecutive semesters (totaling 4 units) to be considered for longer-term paid employment. All applicants must provide a minimum availability of 10 hours per week (Mon - Fri, 8am - 5pm) and complete an interview to be considered. In rare cases, we may be able to pay an applicant prior to the completion of required internship hours on a special need/ special skill basis.
