Calling Cards, Telephone Debit Cards and Prepaid Calling Cards

You may use several different types of cards with CNS Telephone Service, but to do so you must use the Individual Authorization Code (IAC) that we will provide you. There is no call charge from CNS for calling a toll-free number with your IAC. For instructions on how to dial when using a card, click here.

Although calling cards will work with our service, please be aware that many have hidden fees that make the cost per minute for a call a lot higher than what is listed on the packaging. Here are a few things to watch for.

  • Connection Costs - Some companies charge $0.50 or more just to connect you to the number you dialed. Then the cost of the call is added, and the price gets pretty high. For example, a 5 minute call at 3.9¢ per minute, with the connection fee, actually costs 14¢ per minute.

  • Expiration Dates - Many cards come with expiration dates, and it you don't use the card completely before that date, you have lost money.

  • No List of Calls or Charges - How do you know what you're paying for if you don't get to see a list of calls, charges, and added fees. Are you really paying 3.9¢ per minute, or much, much more?

  • Running Out of Time - With a prepaid calling card, when the minutes are gone, the call is over, whether or not you're done with your conversation.

  • Lost Cards - When you lose a prepaid calling card, you've just lost money. No refunds are available in most cases.

  • Many digits to dial - With a calling card, you may be required to dial an 800 #, the calling card #, a pin #, and the phone number of the person you want to call. That's a lot of numbers to have to dial, and if you happen to get a wrong number, you still have to pay the connection fee and the first minute to find out you had the wrong number. That becomes an expensive call!
