Overview

The Department of Finance and Marketing focuses on the development and delivery of courses leading to undergraduate degrees in business administration with marketing and finance options. Our experienced faculty prepares students for challenging and rewarding careers in a global business environment.

Supplementing classroom instruction, students gain practical experience through internships and team projects, solving real-world problems under the close supervision of dedicated faculty members.

In addition to being exemplary classroom instructors and experts in their field, the faculty within the Department of Finance and Marketing is also recognized for making significant contributions to the field through research. Their work is published in many of the leading journals in marketing and finance


The Option in Finance

The Option in Finance provides students with a core curriculum that addresses investments, financial management theory, financial markets, and institutions. Students can select upper division electives in international finance, financial management application, investment analysis and policy, estate planning, risk and insurance, economics, and real estate finance. Career opportunities for a specialization in finance include working for investment brokerage firms, insurance companies, banking institutions, as well as non-financial corporations. Finance is a 24-unit option which includes 3 core required courses, and 5 elective courses.

The Option in Marketing

The Option in Marketing provides students with an understanding of the latest practices and technologies used within today's high–tech business environment, including the areas of e–commerce, consumer behavior, and market research. This option prepares students for careers in sales, distribution, advertising, marketing research, retailing, new product development, brand management, and marketing communications. Marketing is a 24-unit option which includes 3 core required courses, and 5 elective courses.

Marketing offers students the opportunity to focus their education, skills, and knowledge in the area of professional sales. Students that enter our Seufferlein Sales Program take a specialized set of courses which can lead to the granting of the Professional Sales Certificate, and have opportunities to participate in regional competitions. The Seufferlein Sales Program has built strong relationships with leading firms that actively recruit our students.

Minors

The department also offers a Marketing minor and a minor in International Business.
