Degree Options and Course Patterns
Students who seek a degree in Accounting may opt to follow one of two advising patterns: Professional Accounting or Corporate Financial Management. The Professional Accounting curriculum meets the requirements for students who want to enter career paths desiring CPA (Certified Public Accountant) status. Many Chico Professional Accounting students work for national, regional or local public accounting firms or for government agencies such as the IRS or California Franchise Board. The Corporate Financial Management pattern prepares students for staff accounting positions in large to medium sized corporate settings where CPA status is not required.
- Accounting: Professional Accounting Pattern
- Accounting: Corporate Financial Management Pattern
- Minor in Accounting
Students who seek an undergraduate degree in Business Information Systems (BSIS) may opt to refine their studies to accounting information systems, management information systems, or supply chain management systems. This degree was designed with input from industry partners to meet the growing job demands for consultants and business professionals who are technology savvy. In addition to serving as professional consultants, graduates in BSIS are prepared to work as business process analysts, project management trainees, IT infrastructure specialists, SAP functional analysts, and relationship management specialists.
