Teaching/Research
Joining the Chico State business faculty in 2009, Professor Kim teaches management courses. Her research and consulting experience focuses on descriptive and normative studies of group decision making process, using ethnographic and causal mapping methods to represent and understand the social process of exploring, sharing, and aligning different mental models of decision makers. She also uses systems thinking and computer simulation modeling to enhance group decision making. In 2008, Dr. Kim received the Lupina Young Researchers Award in Health System Dynamics for her work with the New York State Office of Mental health. She recently published an article, “In Search of a Mental Model-Like Concept for Group Level Modeling,” in System Dynamics Review.
