Teaching/Research

Dr. Wright joined the California State University, Chico facultyin 1989.  She received the Marketing Science Institute Doctoral Dissertation Award for her dissertation proposal on the factors affecting the success of new business services.  Her research interests include service quality, new service success, and consumer behavior issues related to green marketing and sustainability.  Dr. Wright has published in each of these areas and has presented her work at numerous national and international conferences.  She is the co-author of a services marketing textbook, Principles of Service Marketing and Management (published by Prentice Hall).  She is a past chair of the American Marketing Association's Special Interest Group for Services Marketing (SERVSIG) and is the founder of the SERVSIG doctoral consortium.  Dr. Wright serves as a Master Teacher for the California State University, Chico campus and acts as a teaching mentor for other faculty.  She has published articles related to teaching and has made many presentations on teaching at both national and international conferences.  Dr. Wright has won three teaching awards and is listed in the 1998 volume of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.  She has taught in the Information Technology Services Marketing Association’s executive education program, which provides research and training courses for high-technology service providers.  Dr. Wright currently teaches courses on business communications in the California State University, Chico executive and residential MBA programs. She also teaches undergraduate courses in services marketing and strategic personal selling.  Dr. Wright has been a consultant for a number of companies, including California Prison Industry Authority, DuPont Company, the Environmental Protection Agency, Knutsen Company, IDS/American Express, Simpson Paper Company, and the U.S. Navy.
