Professional Consulting Certificate

Students seeking an exciting career in professional consulting will gain invaluable support in attaining their career goals by complementing their major with a 21-unit Professional Consulting Certificate. Geared toward training students wishing to join reputable consulting agencies at an entry level analyst level, the certificate program is open to all students from across the university from any discipline seeking knowledge and practical experience in professional consulting.

The Professional Consulting Program also allows the added benefit of participating in our professional coaching series, where you will work one-on-one with retired executives through partnership with OLLI.

The certificate requires 2 foundation courses in management, five core courses in areas such as project teams and consulting, and two approved elective courses.


CERTIFICATE ELIGIBILITY

Students will earn the certificate upon completion of the following steps: 

  1. Submit all application material.

  2. Complete all required certificate coursework.

  3. Graduate with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.

  4. Earn a “C” or higher in all certificate courses.


APPLICATION PROCESS

Students must officially declare their intent to earn the certificate. The declaration process involves submitting the below application materials.

Application Materials and Instructions

Applying for the Certificate in Professional Consulting involves two steps. First, applicants must complete and submit the Application and Certificate Declaration Forms. Second, applicants must obtain two Faculty Recommendations and write a 1-2 page entry essay that includes why you should be admitted to the program and what you will contribute if admitted.

Faculty Recommendations and Entry Essay

  1. Faculty Recommendation Form
  2. Applicants must write 1-2 page essay and submit it electronically to Suzanne Zivnuska via email or as a hard copy through the Department of Management office (THMA 305). The essay should explain why you should be admitted to the program and what you will contribute to it.

Application Deadline

The entire application packet (application form, certificate declaration, faculty recommendations, and essay) should be submitted as soon as a student decides to pursue the certificate, or when the student initially enrolls for the first course in the consulting series (MGMT 437).  The final deadline for Fall entrance is April 30 of the prior academic year.
