Sales Certificate

Professional Sales Certificate

The 21-credit Professional Sales Certificate is a great way to differentiate yourself in today’s competitive job market. Though open to all students, the certificate is specifically designed for marketing majors and minors. The certificate is comprised of one foundation course, five required core courses, and one elective course. Check out the course requirements for the Certificate in Professional Sales.


A student will earn the Professional Sales Certificate if the he/she completes the following:

1.  Submits all application material.

2.  Completes all required certificate coursework.

3.  Graduates with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.

4.  Earns a “C” or higher in all certificate courses.


Earning your Professional Sales Certificate is easy! Just follow the steps below.

1.  Application Form

First, students must complete and submit an Application Form. This should be done as soon as possible. Students can fill out the form online, print it and bring it in to Glenn 206. Or, just stop in to see us in Glenn 206 - we have Application Forms at the front desk.

2.  Plan Change Form

Next, students must fill out a Plan Change Form to declare their intent to earn the certificate. This must be submitted PRIOR to filing for graduation. Just follow these simple steps:

  • Visit www.csuchico.edu/sro/forms/plan_change.shtml
  • Click on the Plan Change Form (Staff) link under the Staff/Faculty Advisors header.
  • Enter your portal username and password.
  • Click on the “Add (select to add an additional Major, Minor or Certificate)” button, enter your Chico State ID#, and click the “Look Up” button
  • Once your name appears, proceed to the drop down box and select “Professional Sales Certificate”
  • Click the “Save/Print” button and bring the printed form to the Seufferlein Sales Program (Glenn 206) and Business Advising (Glenn 321) to be signed.

3.  Curriculum and Coursework

Students will then complete the required coursework. Please be sure to visit Business Advising in Glenn 321 to make sure you're on the right track!

4.  Faculty Recommendations

The final requirement to receive your Professional Sales Certificate is to submit TWO Faculty Recommendation Forms. Faculty members will directly submit the completed form to the program’s Operations Manager, Brittany Fortune.These are due at least one month prior to graduation.


The application and plan change forms should be submitted as soon as a student decides to pursue the certificate. The two faculty recommendation forms must be submitted at least one month before graduation.

Faculty Recommendation Forms for all December 2017 graduates will be due by MONDAY, NOVEMBER 13th.
