Special Activity Club Grant

The College of Business values the experience students get while being part of a student organization. There are a variety of ways to fund organization activities including fundraising, membership fees, and Instructional Related Activity grants. Occasionally, student organizations need a little extra support to add value to their members’ co-curricular resume, or desire to embark on a larger, cross-club activity that benefits members from a variety of business clubs. This grant is made possible for currently recognized COB student organizations wishing to:

  • Implement a special activity that involves other clubs and organizations

  • Participate in a national competition for which IRA funding was not available

  • Facilitate the academic, personal, or professional growth of their members

  • Enhance their co-curricular experience

  • Support growth in their academic discipline

  • Exposes them to current trends in their field of study

The Special Activity Club Grant can be used to reimburse various expenses, including, but not limited to:
  • Conference registration fees

  • Transportation

  • Lodging

  • Hospitality for a special event

  • Support for a special, nonrecurring activity

Things you should know before submitting your application:
  • Funding is limited and not guaranteed.

  • Grant requests for special activities of $500 or less that meet the basic requirements have a good chance of being funded. Grants above $500 need to demonstrate exceptional value to the college and the student organization (e.g., national-level competition).

  • Faculty advisor must approve of request (Please make sure your faculty advisor knows about and approves of this request. The application form will ask whether faculty advisor approval has been granted).

  • All requests must be submitted at least two weeks in advance of funding need.

  • Funding will not be provided for regular, ongoing expenses (e.g., food at meetings, national membership fees).

  • Organization must be a recognized CSU, Chico student organization and in good standing with the University. Please contact Student Life and Leadership to confirm the status of your organization.

  • All requests must be completed by an enrolled CSU, Chico student and active member of the organization.

  • Organization can only be awarded funding once per academic year.

  • Please review your application carefully before you submit. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

  • Funds must be spent according to the original request. Deviations from this must be approved by the associate dean and Business Student Success Center program coordinator prior to spending funds or reimbursement cannot be guaranteed.
