CSU, Chico students apply what they have learned in the classroom to make the world a better place. In the process, they find greater meaning for their own lives and a sense of purpose that can only be discovered through service to others.
CSU, Chico students contribute more than 60,000 hours of service each year through participation in Community Action Volunteers in Education (CAVE)
In 2009…
Chico State’s American Marketing Association raised more than $1,500 to support overseas troops in their Soldiers’ Shoulder Campaign.
Delta Sigma Pi raised over $1,000 for breast cancer awareness in their Go Pink or Go Home campaign.
The Association for Women in Business sponsored the Bury the Wheelchair fundraising event to raise awareness and financial support for programs that address childhood stroke.
NetImpact supported initiatives such as SCOOP (Sustainable Consultations of Office Practices) and Take Back the Tap, an effort to promote utilizing water fountains instead of purchasing bottled water.
Phi Chi Theta participated in several community service projects including Relay for Life, Memory Walk for Alzheimer’s, Up ‘til Dawn, Wings of Eagles, and raised support for the local Jesus Center.
SIFE initiatives included Biz Aid assistance for small businesses; Credit C.A.T.S., which was established to help Chico State students understand credit and use it responsibly; Project S.A.V.E., which donates medical supplies and equipment to third world countries; and I-Generations, which partners students with the elderly to teach them internet skills.
