Collaborative Problem Solving Program
Since the inception of the Center for Information Systems Research (CISR) the heart of the research that generates from the center has focused on the utility of electronic tools associated with group productivity. Projects have been conducted in the areas of
- System Go Live Post Mortem
- Project Management Support
- Personnel and Product Selection
- Problem Identification/Solution Generation
- Electronic JAD (Joint Applications Development)
- Focus Groups
- ERP Implementation Support
- Risk Assessment/Management
- Business Process Re–engineering/Redesign
- Funding Decisions for Grants and Projects
Initially, research focused on how and when electronic group productivity differed from manual group productivity. There were a series of papers reporting on case studies in each of the project areas and more generic topics such as group consensus, comparative voting techniques, and group productivity processes. More recently, a focus on virtual team processes has emerged, more specifically how and when electronic tools can be most useful to support virtual teamwork, including project management, program assessment, and focus groups. So in addition to the project types listed above, ThinkTank™ is being used to hold meetings asynchronously as we continue to research virtual teamwork.
